Academic Studies

Private Erenköy Işık Schools have adopted the concept of educating students in the leadership of universal values, aiming to keep the centuries of education history and the changes of the age together with the "Raise a good person" philosophy.
• It allows students to internalize living values, express their feelings and thoughts within the framework of free and democratic rights and to recognize the culture they belong to and examine different cultures.
• An individual who learns that learning is a lifelong process, aims to achieve the goals of being a learner in a determined and systematic way.
• In our school, we adopt modern aproach with an education system based on student-centered and active learning.
• Interdisciplinary cooperation is supported by teaching methods and it is our aim that the student will be able to transfer interdisciplinary information.
• Considering the students' interests, abilities, skills and individual characteristics; It is our aim to raise people who think, ask, question and apply what they learn.
• In our school, learning how to learn is the dominant concept. It is believed that learners are individuals who discover and learn the knowledge and the learning model as an active one, not just who is receiving information passively.
• With this approach, our school values research, problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, information technology literacy, innovation / entrepreneurship and communication skills as the basic acquisitions.
• Various audiovisual information technologies are used to address the senses in order to enable the students to reach information by considering their individual learning styles.
• In addition to providing the students with the ability to use their native language correctly and in a beautiful way, English and the second foreign language are taught to be used effectively in their social and academic lives.
• In addition to the classroom environment, students can learn by using different living spaces with "application and experience".
• In the classroom, instead of an environment where there is individual competition among students; It is important to create a free and democratic learning environment in which students freely share their thoughts, ask questions without hesitation, learn to cooperate and compete only with themselves.
• Not only academic, also the social, emotional and physical development of students as a whole is given importance.

The foreign language course in our school has a structure that aims to enable students to express themselves correctly, fluently and freely in the fields of listening, reading, writing and speaking, which are the four main skills that bring practical use to the forefront. Our aim is to educate students who are questioning, criticizing, analyzing, comparing and commenting, in short, using English effectively. At the High School and Science High School, we aim to mobilize language through readings, articles, short stories, films and novels, and, to actively use it with compositions and a wide variety of speaking activities. We aim to improve our students' ability to express themselves in front of the public and to use the foreign language they have learned with confidence through regular project presentations and debates. In TOEFL studies, which have infrastructure in 10th grade, studies are carried out to gain academic skills. At the end of the 11th grade, we aim for the students to take the exam and skip the prep class in university. By supporting our program with domestic and international trips, we ensure that our students use the language they learn in their natural environment. Our students both have the opportunity to reinforce their language skills and use language more effectively thanks to cultural sharing. With the Model United Nations Club's (MUN) social activity, we aim to enrich our students' cultural backgrounds, perspectives and their ability to express themselves safely as a world citizen. At the ESU (English Speaking Union) Club, students are prepared for the public speaking and debate competitions held at regular intervals and have the opportunity to develop different skills that form the basis in these areas. By encouraging the AFS International Program, we are opening the doors of abroad education to our students. Our aim in Second Foreign Language education is to enable our students to express themselves in this language by raising them at the basic level according to the European Common Language Framework criterias. At the end of the Second Foreign Language Education in French, Spanish or German, our students have the right to take the DELF, DELE and FIT exams which are internationally valid and conducted by independent organizations, and they can document their language skills with a certificate.
